Canadian BBQ Chicken (Canada – Quebec and other regions)

Canadian BBQ Chicken (Canada – Quebec and other regions)

Marinated and roasted or grilled chicken, a popular recipe in French-speaking regions of Canada.

Canadian BBQ chicken is a widely enjoyed recipe in Quebec and several other Canadian provinces. It is typically marinated in a sweet-and-savory mixture often made with ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, vinegar, and brown sugar. The chicken can be roasted in the oven, grilled, or cooked on a barbecue, depending on personal preference.

This dish is a classic homemade meal or is served in popular rotisseries across the country. It is loved for its sticky, slightly caramelized sauce.

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

  • 1 teaspoon mustard powder

  2. Coat the chicken pieces with the marinade. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.

  3. Preheat the oven to 180 °C (350 °F) or prepare the barbecue over medium heat.

  4. Cook the chicken in the oven (45–60 minutes) or on the grill (30–40 minutes), basting regularly with the remaining marinade.

  5. Make sure the chicken is cooked through.
